G'day!
Do you want the good news, the great news
or the best news? I think there’s a saying about bad news
coming in batches of three - well, for RoIf’s Cartoon Club it’s
good news that comes in threes.
The GOOD NEWS is that you are part of what must be one of the fastest
growing clubs in the country. As I write, there are well over 50,000
members! You can see from the photographs on this page that we’ve
been snowed under with applications. Even now, when the show isn’t on
television, we’re still getting letters from people who want to join.
Which brings me to... the GREAT NEWS.
The Roll’s Cartoon Club Christmas
Special will be on ChiIdren's ITV in the
week before Christmas. There’ll be
some classic cartoons and one or two
special Christmas surprises, i promise
you. Talking of Christmas, elsewhere in
this Newsletter we’ve compiled a list of
books. So it you’re keen on doing your
own animation, or reading about how
cartoons were made at Warner Bros or
Disney, you might want to add a book or
two to your Christmas list.
And now, the BEST NEWS! The second
series of Rolf’s Cartoon Club starts at
the beginning of January. So, l’ll be
climbing back down into the Cartoon
Cockpit, warming up the linetester,
uncapping my felt-tip pens and
rounding up Bugs and Daffy and all the
gang. From January through to May the
Workshoppers will be working with me
on a special project - more about that in
the next Newsletter. And, of course,
we’ll be digging in the archives and
searching in other countries to bring
you unusual animation and the best
from abroad - no other programme on
television brings you a better range of
animation.
See you. Rolf

On one dey In May 1989 2,346
envelopes arrived in the Cartoon Club
Office!
On one day in June the 8 people
working in the office sent out 2,420
envelopes!
Every stamp which has arrived has
been saved to help sponsor a guide
dog for the blind.
All the large envelopes we received
were recycled with our unique Rolf's
Cartoon Club recycled envelope labels.
So far as we know you can’t receive
ChiIdren's ITV in South America or
Africa, but, believe It or not, we have
members from as far away as Brazil
and Zambia!
STOP PRESS!
